Frimley Hospital secures cash injection
A hospital in Frimley has received a cash boost to its neonatal and maternity units thanks to a leading UK housebuilder.
Frimley Park Hospital has been handed a donation of £1,000 as a part of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley’s Community Champions initiative, a scheme that sees a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities.
The hospital provides special care to unwell babies while also giving important emotional support for family members during a difficult time.
The Community Champions nomination was provided by Vicky Slater, who experienced the importance of the hospital’s support first hand after her daughter, Amber, became very poorly after birth. The hospital’s care and support then inspired Vicky to become an active fundraiser.
She said: “Frimley Park Hospital’s neonatal and maternity units are true Community Champions as they provide fantastic care, not only to seriously ill babies but friends and family too.
“The staff at the hospital kept me going when my daughter was ill and gave her all the treatment she required – they really are an inspiration.
“The funding is to be split between the neonatal and maternity units at Frimley Park Hospital and, added to the money we’ve already raised, will pay for vital equipment to save many more lives.”
Martyn Clark, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Frimley Park Hospital’s neonatal and maternity units, who provide an astonishing level of care in our region.
“Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a tricky task to pick our winners each month.
“If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
The housebuilder has a range of one and two bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four bedroom houses available on its Queensgate site. Located on the southern edge of Farnborough, Queensgate has 67 superbly-designed homes that are ideal for first time buyers, commuters, families and investors.
Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions is a year-long programme with £750,000 to be spread across the housebuilder’s 26 regions. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise funds themselves can apply for match funding of up to £1,000.
