Entrepreneurial sibling duo embark on misson to tackle loneliness in the capital

Greek-born entrepreneur Nadine Spyrakis aims to support young people in making friends in London with the launch of her app bethere.

Targeted at 18-34 year olds in the capital, the social location app connects young people based on location and interest using a built in map function.

Now scaling fast in London, bethere is global with 25,000 users, of which 20 per cent are in the UK. The business was founded by Greek sibling entrepreneurs Nadine and Panos Spyrakis and is enjoying a staggering 23% growth of active users every week.

The Mental Health Foundation found loneliness to be a greater concern among young people than the elderly, with 18 to 34-year-olds more likely to feel lonely often than the over-55s.

bethere aims to help those who are looking for support and to build new connections during the Christmas period, says Nadine: “At this time of year, when it is easy to feel excluded, bethere is a fun and easy way to be involved, to actively invite and get together with others in your social space. bethere indicates what your friends have planned in the future and where they are going.

“User feedback so far has been fantastic, particularly from student communities, busy londoners and travellers.”
