Advantex awarded five-figure contract with Sunderland manufacturer

Sunderland car components’ manufacturer, Unipres (UK) Limited (UPUK), which counts Nissan amongst its clients, has awarded a five-figure contract to Advantex Network Solutions Ltd, to improve its on-site security.

The Gateshead IT firm will supply and install a new internet-based CCTV surveillance system at Unipres, which produces car-body structural parts for the likes of Honda and Renault at its 127,000m2 factory on Cherry Blossom Way.

The move will improve the monitoring and security of critical areas such as production and robot assembly lines, along with the safety of 1100 people employed at the site.

The deal includes a support package covering repair and maintenance, and annual health checks for all hardware and software.

Advantex will also be providing remote technical support via its help desk and has specifically built in features to enable the whole system to be quickly and easily upgraded to accommodate future expansion.

Overall, site access improvements and the better utilisation of security resources and managerial time provided by the new CCTV technology will deliver significant savings and efficiencies for Unipres.

Sunderland is the focal point of Unipres’ operations in Europe so an upgraded system was critical to secure on-site security said Guy Capstaff, IT manager for Unipres.

He added: “We will benefit from the highest levels of on-site security following this latest investment. Advantex has delivered a flexible, quality system that secures our needs for site safety.

“The company has also been responsive in providing an advanced, cost effective solution that will deliver long term financial benefits over many years.”

Advantex currently has a £4m turnover and employs approximately 50 people at its Follingsby Business Park headquarters.

Tony Easingwood, account manager at Advantex, said: “This is a prestigious contract win for us, reflecting our capacity to provide advanced security solutions that operate on the latest IP platforms.

“We are now working with many leading North East manufacturers to help them improve their operations through the provision of quality advice and network infrastructure services.”
