Bolton IT services firm Imerja snapped up by Birmingham company

Imerja Limited, a provider of IT managed services based in Bolton, has been acquired by Birmingham-headquartered telecoms firm Intercity Technology Limited.

The transaction, after which all of Imerja’s staff will be retained, will see Intercity broaden its suite of communications and IT services

Imerja’s managing director, Ian Jackson, said: “Imerja has established itself as a reliable and trusted partner to the customers we serve.

“Our ability to provide a range of infrastructure and security services into the public and private sector is the envy of the industry and is all thanks to the commitment of everyone who works within the business.”

He added: “Being part of Intercity Technology will provide us with range of mobility and communications solutions to sit alongside our existing IT services; we are extremely excited to be a part of the Intercity Technology business.”

The deal follows another acquisition for Intercity. Earlier this year, the firm purchased Gage Networks, a provider of cloud communications, hosting and network services.

Andrew Jackson, the CEO at Intercity, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Imerja to the Intercity Technology family. Imerja brings a deep expertise in IT managed services and security, which allows us to offer our customers complete technology solutions across IT and telecoms.

“There is a strong cultural fit between our businesses and like us they focus on service excellence and technical knowledge to differentiate in the market.”

Established in 2004, Imerja has offices in Lancashire, Hertfordshire and Leicestershire.

Imerja shareholders were advised by professional services firm KPMG during the transaction, while DLA provided legal services.

KPMG’s head of corporate finance in the North, Jonathan Boyers, who acted as the lead advisor on the acquisition, commented: “Imerja’s track record in providing high-quality secure IT solutions to enterprise and public sector organisations meant that it was a natural fit for Intercity Technology.

“The combined capability created by this acquisition, coupled with the addition of the experienced Imerja management team, will add significant strength to Intercity Technology’s existing portfolio of communications and IT services.”
