Liverpool FC sign extended deal with PPTV
Liverpool FC are taking steps to increase the size of their audience in Asia after securing an extended deal with PPTV, a video service provider based in China.
As part of the agreement, the Reds extended a one-year deal signed in February with the Shanghai firm to see it launch a new Liverpool-themed TV in 2016.
PPTV plans to release 5,000 of the LFC television sets.
The company currently sponsors the video section of LFC’s new Chinese website and runs content such as player interviews and updates, news and match highlights.
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler attended an announcement event for the deal.
The move follows a number of steps taken by the club in recent months to boost engagement with fans in China. In October, Liverpool signed a deal with Chinese media firm Tencent Sports.
