Local sub-contractors set to benefit from Cane Hill Park
The construction of a brand-new housing development at Cane Hill Park is set to send positive ripples through the local economy as the developers behind the project launch a campaign to find local companies to work on the new homes.
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes held a special ‘Call for Trades’ event, where they met with local construction companies to outline the opportunities available.
A total of 675 homes are being built at the site and developers say they need more sub-contractors in the Croydon area to help take the project forward. Scores of roles will be available, from bricklaying to plumbing and landscaping to electrical work, and those behind the development say this should provide a boost for local sub-contractors.
James Dunne, Operations Director Cane Hill Park, said: “The development in Coulsdon represents a huge opportunity for local construction firms to play a part in a landmark project while adding to their order books. It is important to us to support local businesses as far as possible so we would like to hear from sole traders right the way through to larger companies who can provide trade services for the development.
“They could have worked with us before or be new to the organisation. Equally they could currently be working in the commercial sector and be looking to move over to house building. The trades we’re looking for include electricians, plumbers, painter and decorators, carpenters, roofers, scaffolders, plasterers/dry liners and bricklayers.”
He said: “We recognise sub-contractors are vital to our business and likewise providing local jobs and a boost to the local economy is an important part of what we do. At Cane Hill Park we are aiming to build successful partnerships with companies and individuals throughout the construction process over the coming months and years.
