Clothes2order.com wins national technology award

Clothing supplier Clothes2order has won a national accolade for its use of technology.

The Trafford Park e-commerce firm, which supplies personalised clothing for groups, teams and businesses, scooped the prize for best use of technology to improve business performance at the 2015 Chamber Awards.

Clothes2order qualified for the national awards after winning the north west regional heat.

The Chamber Awards are open to Chambers of Commerce members nationwide.

The judges praised Clothes2order for the way it has adopted new technologies to improve the customer experience and its efficiency, contributing to the company’s overall growth.

Clothes2order prints and embroiders logos and slogans on to clothing for more than 20,000 businesses, clubs, charities and societies as well as individuals.

Over the past year, it has invested in state-of-the-art printing and embroidery equipment, a barcode scanning system in its warehouse to improve stock control and increase the number of orders it can complete, and has issued hand-held tablet devices to staff so they can track the progress of orders.

The firm has driven overseas growth with the creation of dedicated websites in Ireland and Australia.

It has also launched a dedicated mobile site for customer ordering and has invested £250,000 in a venture enabling clubs, online communities, charities, trade associations and designers to sell their own branded clothing, caps and bags via the main www.clothes2order.com website. More than 1,500 online merchandise stores have been set up so far.

Managing director Michael Conway said: “Our business is built around making life as easy as possible for our customers and ensuring operational excellence.

“Technology helps us achieve both of these key goals and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised with this award.”

Clothes2order is the fastest-growing part of Quayside Group, which is on track to achieve record revenues of £9m this year, up from £6.5m in 2014. Quayside is targeting sales of £20m by 2017.

Nora Senior, president of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: “Clothes2order is a fantastic example of British business at its best. This award not only recognises the focus, passion and innovation of the company but also acknowledges the contribution it is making to the local and national economy.”

Danny Longbottom, managing director for UK SMEs at category sponsor BT Business, said: “Clothes2order is a great example of a business using technology to increase business performance, improve efficiency and also deliver a great service to its customers.”

The 2015 Chamber Award adds to Clothes2order’s trophy cabinet – last month it was named the UK’s medium-sized e-commerce company of the year at the eCommerce Awards for Excellence.
