Europa Worldwide Group Banks on New FD

Independent logistics operator, Europa Worldwide Group, has appointed Robert Ross as new Group Financial Director, to drive profitability and growth during an exciting period of development within the business.

Robert, who joins from one of the world’s leading financial firms, PwC, has taken the reins from former Financial Director, Russell Keep.

Robert joins Europa at an exciting time, following an extensive programme of investment and restructuring. The past two years have seen Europa establish its dedicated service divisions, appoint a fifth of its workforce, relocate to its £30m facility in Dartford and launch its innovative 1hub – now the UK’s largest European groupage hub.

Managing Director, Andrew Baxter, said: “Russell has been an asset to the firm over many years and we wish him all the best. Europa feels like a very different business than it was two years ago and having Robert on board with all of his experience will reinforce our position even further and provide a springboard for long-term growth.”

Robert will strengthen an already dynamic Board of Directors, bringing to the table his experience with one of the world’s leading financial firms, PwC, where he worked across its London and Sheffield offices. His credentials also include work with leading retail and consumer brands Ocado, Pure Gym, Findus, Maplin and LA Fitness.

Robert added: “Joining a great team and at such a pivotal time on Europa’s journey is an incredibly exciting venture for me. The business has huge potential for future growth and has a track record which proves that it isn’t afraid to capitalise on the areas that will see the company build on its current success. No doubt, 2016 will be an exciting year for Europa.”

Russell Keep was with the firm for many years and he sat on the original Board. In August 2013 Managing Director, Andrew Baxter, bought a 90 per cent stake in Europa and Russell agreed to stay in his post for two years following the acquisition.

Europa reported a growth of 9 per cent in turnover in 2014 and expects to see its profitability rise even further now that a two year programme of restructuring and changes is complete.
