Day two: FedEx festive top tips for small businesses
#2 Don’t Be Left Out in the Cold
Christmas is coming and at FedEx we want to help your business be fully prepared this festive season. FedEx customer Bremont Watches advises on how to avoid unexpected duty bills this Christmas.
By Giles English, Co-Founder and CEO of Bremont Watches…
“We always experience a seasonal peak at this time of year with orders coming in from across the globe. When it comes to fulfilling international orders – especially during this busy period – we’ve found planning ahead and understanding customs is the answer to a less frantic festive period.
“For your international orders to get through customs seamlessly, it’s crucial you complete the customs documentation with compliant and accurate information. A precise product description on your commercial invoice will ensure duty bills are calculated correctly. It’s also good practice to estimate any import charges that may be payable too. The UK government website is a good source of information and the European Commission has compiled a database of export tariffs for most international destinations. My advice is to get on top of customs so your products get to international customers without interruption.”
