Bonmarché is returning to Leeds city centre.

Bonmarché creates 11 new jobs with Leeds city centre return

Wakefield-based retailer Bonmarché is returning to Leeds city centre after striking a new deal with Merrion Centre owner, Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS).

Bonmarché, which is open for business on December 10th, will be taking a around 3,000 sq ft unit on the main mall of the Merrion Centre.

This opening has created 11 new jobs and is part of Bonmarché’s store-opening programme, which selects only sites that meet strict criteria and are in strategic-fit locations.

Helen Green, associate director of estates for TCS, said: “After a prolonged absence we’re delighted to welcome Bonmarché back to Leeds with a brand new store at the Merrion Centre. We have recombined several shops on the main mall to create a prime position for them.”

Bonmarché is one of the UK’s most popular women’s value retailers, focused on selling stylish, affordable, premium quality clothing and accessories in a wide range of sizes for women over 50 years old.

Green added: “The Merrion Centre has broad appeal and diverse customer base which includes students, families, office workers and the more mature shopper. In the UK there are over 22 million people aged over 50 and this is an expanding age group. We’re confident that Bonmarché’s David Emanuel collection will be really popular with our older shoppers. Our fashion offering of Peacocks, Select, D-Code, Shoe Zone and now Bonmarché caters for all our demographics.”

Mark Pickersgill, retail director for Bonmarché, also commented: “The opening of the Bonmarché store at the Merrion Centre was chosen because of the site’s value, accessibility and customer base. We have worked closely with TCS to create a unit that fits our needs and we are delighted to see a Bonmarché store open in the centre of Leeds.”
