CHESTER CHARITY APPEALING FOR BIKE DONATIONS
Have you got an old bike you don’t need? Then Chester charity Bren Bikes would like to hear from you.
The charity has launched a Christmas campaign to encourage people to ‘Give a Bren Bike this Christmas’.
They are looking for donations of old, unwanted or outgrown bikes which they are happy to collect.
Bren Bikes then refurbishes and services them before selling them back to the public.
Bren Bikes is part of The Bren Project, a Lottery funded registered charity which supports and inspires people with learning disabilities and autism.
Charity Manager Emma Forrest says: “The proceeds from every bike we sell are ploughed back into the charity which allows us to provide high quality supported work experiences for people with learning disabilities and autism.
“Bren Bikes helps prepare beneficiaries for work, building their employability and confidence. Since 2007, the Bren Project has provided 190 successful supported placements and worked with 223 people. As a result of their placement, 36 have moved into paid work or volunteering.
“We rely on bike donations to keep the workshop ticking over so we’d love to hear from anyone who has a bike they don’t want any more - or which their child has grown out of – which we can refurbish and sell.
“As well as refurbishing bikes for sale, our highly qualified bike mechanic can repair, service and maintain bikes. And all our recycled bikes come with a 7-day guarantee.”
The Bren Bikes workshop is located at Live! New Scene, Hoole and is open weekdays 9am-5pm. Pop in for a repair, service, general maintenance or to buy or donate a bike. Call 01244 313473 for more information.
