PJA Distribution Brings Home The Bacon

Thornaby firm PJA Distribution crowned High Growth Business of the Year

PJA Distribution recognised for business excellence at national business awards.

A Thornaby company has become one of only three North East companies recognised for excellence in British business.

North East Chamber of Commerce member PJA Distribution fought off competition from several companies to lift the High Growth Business Award at the 2015 Chamber Awards at the Brewery London.

Awarded to businesses that demonstrate exceptional growth, PJA Distribution was praised by the judging panel for expanding its workforce from 1 to 75 in four years, as well as its operating profits – the company now secures 65% of its revenue from international sales. Nora Senior, President of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said: “PJA Distribution is a fantastic example of British business at its best. This award not only recognises the focus, passion and innovation of the company but also acknowledges the contribution it is making to the local and national economy.”

Sarah Shields, Executive Director and General Manager at award sponsors Dell UK said: “Dell works closely with the entrepreneur and SME community and we therefore recognise talent, opportunity and potential success. PJA Distribution is a great example of a regional business blazing a path internationally.”

The achievement completes a wonderful year for PJA Distribution, following success at the North East Business Awards in April and placing as the region’s highest-ranking company in the Sunday Times SME Export Track 100. The company, which specialises in mobile accessories, is also celebrating being named in the Virgin Fast Track 100 after increasing sales by 71% to £7.3m.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) Chamber Awards took place Thursday 26th November at the Brewery, London, and was supported by DHL, BT Business, Qdos Consulting, NFU Mutual, Dell, the British Library, Composite Legal Expenses and Sky News.
