Roofing Firm Calls Extra Time

In a fitting finale to its anniversary year leading roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has presented a cheque for an impressive £8,000.00 at a fundraising football match for Help for Heroes.

Help for Heroes is a national charity that provides support services for men, women and their families who worked in the armed forces.

Russell Roof Tiles charity football match was held at the world famous St Georges Park – the home of the Football Association near Burton on Trent and was a fitting climax to the company’s 50th anniversary which has seen the business and its customers raise over £18,000 for both Help the Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Care.

The recent 11-a-side charity match was made up of both Russell Roof Tiles staff and customers, including representatives from Avonside, SM Roofing, PJ Colours, Liberty Roofing, Bracknell Roofing and Advanced Sites Services, who all came together to support this great cause.

Other fundraising activities for Help the Heroes this year have included staff doing a Zumba fitness class in the summer and Russell Roof Tiles anniversary celebration in September attended by 200 guests which included an auction, hosted by BBC sports presenter Garry Richardson and raffle.

Dean Williams an ex-serviceman, who has several years’ service in the forces serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and Ireland accepted the cheque from Russell Roof Tiles Managing Director Andrew Hayward. Dean is now Central England Regional Manager Help for Heroes and commented “Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this incredible dedication to fundraising by Russell Roof Tiles is a wonderful example of people, rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. The money raised allows us to continue to rebuild lives and we are truly grateful for this offer of generous support.”

2015 has been a hugely memorable year for Russell Roof Tiles. As well as an enormous number of anniversary events and activities, that company was recognised for its excellence in manufacturing, winning an award for Large Manufacturer of the Year.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles, says: “It has certainly been a very special year for the business with so many customers, suppliers and staff all joining together to mark the 50th anniversary. It is fantastic that part of the anniversary celebrations we have also been able to give something back to such great causes.
