CMS Sponsors ‘Outstanding Apprentice of the Year’ Award
Dominick Livesey named as ’Outstanding Apprentice 2015’
Batley-based CMS Vocational Training (CMS VOC) is celebrating training over 150 learners as an apprenticeship and training provider to Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL), a charitable trust which manages 14 leisure facilities and swimming pools on behalf of Kirklees Council. To mark the achievement, CMS sponsored the ‘Outstanding Apprentice of the Year’ Award at the KAL Celebration Event, an annual event which celebrates KAL’s employees and their achievements throughout the year.
The winner of the award was Dominick Livesey from Huddersfield who works at Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre and completed his Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Customer Service with CMS VOC. He was recognised forcontinually showing hard work and commitment and was presented with his award by Hadyn Luke, Contract Manager at CMS VOC at the glittering award ceremony held at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.
CMS VOC delivers a range of Government funded and commercial vocational training programmes and became an approved apprentice provider for KAL in 2009. In that time, CMS has supported over 70 apprentices into customer service and health and fitness roles including lifeguards, gym instructors, activity activators and many more.
CMS is also a training partner for KAL, delivering personal training qualifications through its CMS Fitness Courses brand at KAL’s state-of-the-art Stadium Health & Fitness Club, at the John Smith’s Stadium. In the last six years, CMS has delivered training for over 80 KAL learners. Courses are aimed at upskilling KAL employees as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and include a range of health and fitness courses including personal training, adapting gym instruction for adolescents and exercise referral for special populations.
KAL Apprentice of the Year, Dominick Livesey, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award and to be recognised in this way. The support from CMS, in particular Emma Munden and Joanne Stevenson, has been amazing and they have helped me endlessly throughout my apprenticeship. With their help I’ve progressed further than I ever thought I could. Getting an apprenticeship with KAL through CMS has been an amazing opportunity for me and I’m really excited about the future.”
Hadyn Luke, Contract Manager at CMS said: “We are delighted to sponsor this award and extremely proud of Dominick in being named ‘Outstanding Apprentice’ for 2015. Our partnership with KAL is the perfect example of the benefits of apprenticeships and lifelong learning for the individual, for the employer and ultimately, for the local economy. To help young people starting out in their career is extremely rewarding, we’ve seen many success stories of our apprentices progressing into fantastic roles thanks to the ‘foot in the door’ an apprenticeship offers. We also see past apprentices and existing employees develop in their careers through CPD which is fantastic.”
CMS VOC, which has been delivering apprenticeship and commercial training for over 30 years, and CMS Fitness Courses, which was established in 2009, are committed to helping people of all ages, backgrounds and industries, find the right course and training programme and apprenticeship so they can progress in their chosen career or embark on a new career.
