Grafton for Contractors expands industrial pipeline business

Grafton for Contractors is expanding its industrial pipeline business with a new half a million square foot warehousing and distribution facility in Ipswich.

Located on Sproughton Road, Ipswich, the new purpose-built facility will stock steel pipe of all sizes and specifications, holding up-to 5000 metric tonnes of pipes and materials at any given time.

It will support Grafton for Contractors’ industrial pipeline businesses, which trade as PBI(Plumbase Industrial), in the supply of pipeline and mechanical engineering products to the commercial building services and industrial process markets.

Grafton for Contractors will handle and distribute materials through the warehouse for more than 50 branches situated across the UK.

The site will be serviced collectively by an experience team of 15 people, who will handle and distribute on average 250 tonnes of steel products per day. The site is equipped with advanced machinery for unloading containers and loading vehicles.

Supplier Brisko Metal Resources, the company that manufactures the pipes, acts as exclusive distributor to Grafton for Contractors.

Martin Somers, Managing Director of Grafton for Contractors said: “Ipswich’s locality makes it ideal for importing and distributing materials to contractors throughout the UK, so it was a good base for our new warehousing facility. Its magnitude means that we can ensure any size order can be catered for, supporting anticipated growth in 2016.”
