JWP Creers completes £40m of deals in 2015

CORPORATE deals with a total value of more than £40m have been advised on by accountants and business advisors, JWPCreers, during 2015 as Northern business confidence continues to grow.

The North Yorkshire firm completed more than 20 deals between the West Midlands and The North East, including sales, acquisitions, mergers, management buy-outs, private equity funding, debt finance and corporate re-structuring, in sectors covering healthcare, construction, architecture, electrical contracting, leisure, haulage and waste management.

JWP Creers corporate finance team, based at the firm’s York office and led by partner, Tony Farmer, has been expanded to eight staff during the last 12 months to handle an increasing number of instructions with the addition of corporate finance managers, Nick Barker and Andrea Whitehead, and corporate finance research assistant, Adam Copley.

The deals included the acquisition of Millfield Haulage, Nether Poppleton, York, by TEF Transport, Scarborough; the acquisition of historic hotel, The Salwey Arms, Ludlow, Shropshire, by an East Yorkshire family and raising finance and providing company structuring advice for a new 64-bed care home in Scarborough.

Growing confidence among funders also encouraged JWP Creers to sponsor a new corporate investment award in the York Press Business Awards 2015 for enterprises investing in the York and North Yorkshire economy, which was won by Finance Yorkshire.

Head of JWP Creers corporate finance team, Tony Farmer, a partner, says: “The growth in economic activity which started in autumn 2013 is continuing on a steady upwards trajectory and there is increasing business confidence in the North leading more people to invest in new ventures or acquire existing ones as part of their growth strategy.

“We are particularly pleased that several of the deals we advised upon were related to property or construction and have involved job creation as funders have re-gained their appetite for these sectors after dropping them during the banking crisis.

“We already have a very healthy deals pipeline for 2016 with transactions with a total value of more than £60m. We are pleased and proud that our hard work in building a strong and meticulous corporate finance team is now becoming widely recognised in the north.”

JWPCreers, based at York Science Park and Park Street, Selby, is among York and North Yorkshire’s largest firms of accountants, taxation professionals and business advisers with seven partners and more than 80 staff.
