Manchester Airport invites companies to bid for slice of £1bn transformation work

As part of its 10-year, £1bn transformation project, Mancheser Airport is inviting businesses to bid for contracts worth as much as £500m.

The UK’s third busiest airport issued a contract call for Terminal Two phase of the revamp, which includes an extension to more than double the size of the existing building.

Brad Miller, the director of the Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MAN-TP), said: “After a successful launch in June this year and an extensive consultation period it is exciting to enter the next phase of the project.

“This contract notice and invitation to participate, is the single biggest element of the whole £1bn project that spans ten years, and we are expecting to see a range of high calibre companies put their names forward.”

He continued: “Over the next decade, the airport will continue to develop as a global gateway for the UK, directly to and from the North, and these enhancements will enable us to further adapt, modernise and transform the customer service experience we are able to offer.”

The airport is asking interested companies to complete a questionnarie ahead of a main invitation to tender for work. Organisations hoping to deliver part of theproject must demonstrate that they have had an annual turnover of £750m or more over the last three years.

The MAN-TP development involves a series of 60 changes to combine “a contemporary look and feel with state of the art services”, the airport has said.
