New Director showcases benefits of working in construction

Having grown substantially throughout 2015, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, based in York and developing properties across the North, East and South of Yorkshire, has appointed a new Construction Director to its team. Steve Mattinson is tasked with spearheading health and safety, innovation, quality and costs across the division in a bid to further build on the developer’s reputation for five star homes.

With 21 sites currently in construction across the region, Steve will be heading up the construction team to ensure customer service and health and safety are a key priority during every aspect of the build process. Formally a Construction Manager within Barratt Developments, Steve has 28 years of industry experience. Having started out his career as an apprentice joiner for the division, Steve is urging young people to consider the career opportunities available within the industry, and is using his own success as testament to the career growth on offer.

Steve commented: “I’ve worked across a real range of construction roles at Barratt and have been with the company for almost two decades! The progress I have made over the last 28 years demonstrates the career opportunities available to young people at Barratt and indeed the wider industry. I’ve been awarded with 3 NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards and 1 Seal of Excellence Award, enjoyed progression via Barratt’s talent programme and worked at and managed sites across the whole region.
