Gavurin chooses Newcastle for HQ relocation

Tech firm Gavurin, which specialises in big data, has announced that it will open a new office in Newcastle, moving its headquarters to the city and creating 26 new jobs over the next three years.

With plans to move into the former Racquets Court on College Street in Newcastle, Gavurin follows mobile tech firm mkodo as the second London company to choose to open a new office in the city this week.

Originally founded in the region and employing 13 people in the North East already, the planned expansion will add an estimated £750k increase in annual GVA for the city.

Mark Aryaeenia, Chief Executive of Gavurin, said: “We see the development of our HQ as a key element of our marketing strategy. As a newcomer to the city, I’ve been delighted with the support we’ve had from Newcastle City Council.

“Our development of Racquets Court will be a stunning addition to the city centre, and will really complement our brand and market activity.

“We’re a highly innovative business, and proximity to world class research and development is crucial. We want to stimulate collaboration between our overseas partners, customers and the knowledge economy in Newcastle where we will be headquartered”.

Cllr Ged Bell, Cabinet Member for Investment and Development said; “We worked closely with Gavurin to understand their requirements, which enabled us to provide them with innovative property solutions to match their growth plans, and we’re delighted that they have decided to expand into Newcastle.

“This reaffirms the North East’s reputation as a hotbed for the digital and technology industry, and supports our ambition to bring investment to the city and creating more and better jobs. The high value skills that Gavurin require helps us build a strong knowledge-based economy that will enable the city to compete on an international stage, building on the company’s global reach.”

The company have recently appointed Newcastle-based IDPartnership to oversee design of their refurbishment plans at Racquets Court.
