Royal Wootton Bassett FC scores with cash donation
Youth football teams in Royal Wootton Bassett are celebrating after scoring a £1,000 donation to fund new training aids.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Football Club was given the money by Persimmon Homes Wessex, as part of the builder’s Community Champions scheme.
Andy Walduck, Chairman for the club, said: “This funding will give our youth teams the equipment they so desperately need. It will also assist our newly launched disability football programme which is run by Jeff Tidy the clubs development officer.
“This is a huge boost to everyone involved at the club and we can’t thank Persimmon enough.”
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “Royal Wootton Bassett FC is a great community resource and we are very proud to support such a worthy cause.
“We are delighted to be investing in the young people of Swindon and the surrounding areas and on behalf of Persimmon we hope this donation goes some way in helping Royal Wootton Bassett FC motivate their young players through sport and exercise.”
The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.
Pauline added: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
