Day 16: FedEx festive top tips for small businesses
#16 Make Social Media Work for You
Christmas is coming and at FedEx we want to help your business be fully prepared this festive season. For today’s top tip, please see below:
Social media websites are an effective tool to reach international markets and customers more easily. Not only can you engage with your customers both at home and abroad, but increase sales and traffic to your website in the process.
Social media can be a successful means to encourage your customers to pay attention to your business as well as build a following. One way to achieve success is to develop creative content that isn’t overly sales driven or heavily promotes your products. Think about the 80:20 rule: 80% of your posts should engage and inform followers, while 20% should carry more direct sales messaging. You could also consider digital advertising, so you can more easily target your audience.
Another tactic to increase traffic to your website is to offer special promotions and competitions to your customers who follow you on social media. Not only does this encourage individuals to purchase from your business, but some social media platforms allow you to track the number of followers who click-through to your website – enabling you to monitor what works and what doesn’t.
