Manchester Royal Exchange welcomes two new retailers

Two retailers have signed up for space at Manchester Royal Exchange, the city centre building currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurb.

Chocolatier Hotel Chocolat has taken 800 sq ft on a 10-year lease in a unit facing Market Street, while shoe repair firm City Cobbler will occupy units 11-13 within the building’s Arcade. The Royal Exchange offers 100,000 sq ft of retail space and 120,000 sq ft of office accommodation.

The two new tenants were secured by Trinistar Manchester, a joint venture between investment firms Starwood Capital and Trinity Investment Management.

Richard O’Boyle, the executive director at Trinity IM, said: “Manchester Royal Exchange is a real hive of activity with the majority of the available retail units now occupied.

“The works in the northern offices are well on their way and will be finished in the second quarter of 2016.”

Metis Real Estate Advisors is a joint retail agent on the scheme alongside Lambert Smith Hampton.

Stephen Tregenza, director at Metis Real Estate Advisors, commented: “Hotel Chocolat’s decision to commit an additional store in Manchester underlines the quality of the offer at The Royal Exchange and the scale of the city’s growth.

“We are in discussion with a number of national and independent retailers at the Royal Exchange and hope to announce more exciting names soon.”
