DogBuddy Creates Successful 'Airbnb' For Dogs

DogBuddy.com, Europe’s leading online dog sitting and home dog boarding community, is carving out a niche sector by offering one of the first “airbnb style services” for dogs across Europe. Building on the ever-growing consumer demand for vetted and trusted sitters since its launch, DogBuddy.com achieved 550% booking growth in its first year[1] and aims to capitalise upon the growing trend for quality dog care services.

With over 200,000 dog lovers already registered across Europe in a bit more than 2 years, DogBuddy has seen revenues grow at over 360% YoY since 2013, and plans to remain a leader in this sector. Taking advantage of the increasing number of households with dogs in the UK[2], DogBuddy aims to further strengthen bookings worldwide by tenfold in the next two years.

Born from the merger between myDogBuddy (UK) and Bibulu (ES) in 2014, DogBuddy is led by passionate entrepreneurs Richard Setterwall (CEO) and Enrico Sargiacomo (COO). After both struggled to find reliable sitters for their own dogs, they realised there was a gap in the market and consequently set about creating the now leading community marketplace for dogs in Europe with over 150,000 dog nights booked in the first two years alone. Raising a total of €2.6m in investments to date, DogBuddy shows no signs of slowing down and is keen to continue expanding beyond the UK, Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

With a practically untapped market, DogBuddy is set to become the number one trusted dog care services brand in Europe, enhancing their offering with additional services including third party liability and vet insurance plus 24/7 emergency vet support (UK only) to stand out against its competition. Stringently reviewing all sitters before approving between around 10-20% of applicants to join the growing online community, dog owners can benefit from the peace of mind that their dog is being cared for in a safe and homely environment whilst they themselves are away from home, primarily due to work or travel.

Richard Setterwall, Founder and CEO says; “There are over 75 million dogs in Europe, with one in almost every four households. We want to provide a community for all dog lovers, with local, trusted dog boarding and walking services. We’ve seen incredible growth over the last year and we’re looking to expand further and develop our offering to help dog owners everywhere – it’s an exciting time for both our team and our customers”.
