Hitachi Rail facility adds Sunderland's Maxim to contractor list

Maxim Facilities Management is the latest firm to be named as a contractor to the new £82m Hitachi Rail facility, based in County Durham.

The largest independent contract cleaning and facilities management firm in the region, Maxim’s appointment follows Gateshead’s Advantex Network Solutions Ltd being named as the IT provider to the manufacturing site.

The Sunderland-based business will provide cleaning services at the Newton Aycliffe facility, which covers over 127,000 square metres.

Benjamin Mawby, project manager at Hitachi Rail Europe, says: “Being a brand new business in the North East, we received a lot of ‘expressions of interest’ from many service providers, and the competition for this contract was very tough.

“From the day we met Maxim, we found them very professional and helpful. Their team is providing an exemplary service, and we are looking forward to them continuing to prosper and grow with Hitachi Rail Europe.”

Maxim FM provides commercial contract cleaning and facilities management services to public and private sector clients, and works with a growing number of well-known firms right across the UK, including Gentoo, Quorn and Vianet plc.

Graham Conway, founder and managing director at Maxim FM, adds: “Hitachi Rail Europe’s investment in the North East not only covers the Newton Aycliffe facility, but extends to the supply chain opportunities that it is offering regional companies such as ourselves, and we’re very pleased to have been able to be working with them.

“Our success is based on recruiting and rewarding capable staff who we know will meet the standards we expect, ensuring appropriate resources are on the ground to manage the work being done and giving clients access to real-time management information on which they can assess the services we provide.

“It has been very gratifying to have already received such positive feedback on our work, as well as to be part of the future development of this important manufacturing centre.”
