Five Guys Liverpool opened its doors on December 7

Liverpool Five Guys was brand’s ‘second most successful opening’ worldwide

The opening of the new Five Guys burger joint in Queen Square, Liverpool, was the second most successful launch in the company’s history.

Five Guys, which operates over 1,200 US restaurants and 31 in the UK, has revealed that its Liverpool site sold more than 10k sandwiches in its first week.

The Queen Square Five Guys also sold 3,500 sodas, 3,700 portions of fries and 1,800 shakes. Since opening, the restaurant said it has used 8.4 tonnes of potatoes, the equivalent weight of around four Land Rover cars.

Daniel Hynd, the director of Queen Square operator Promenade Estates, said: “Since Five Guys opened its doors on Monday (December 7), the reaction from the Liverpool public has been fantastic.

“The news that it is the second most successful opening worldwide is incredible and is testament to the quality of the Five Guys brand.”

He continued: “This success reinforces the fact that quality operators will always be welcome in Liverpool, and will add further fuel to the growth in the city’s leisure industry.

“It’s particularly pleasing for Queen Square and the St Georges Quarter, which has seen a surge of investment in significant cultural and leisure developments in the past 18 months, such as the Shankly Hotel and the Royal Court refurbishment.”

A spokesperson for Five Guys praised the city’s “strong and dynamic” restaurant and retail scene, adding that the firm is “proud and excited” to be part of Liverpool’s offering.

They added: “Excitement for our brand opening in Liverpool has been steadily building through social media and other channels and we are pleased to open before Christmas.

“The Queen Square location provided an ideal opportunity for us to start cooking our burgers and fries in this exciting market.”
