Engineering, environmental and planning consultancy to double staff at its new Nottingham office

Engineering, environmental and planning consultancy Caulmert is looking to double the number of staff at its Nottingham office, just three months after relocating to the city.

The employee-owned business recently relocated its Midlands office from Derbyshire to the Eastwood Link Business Park. It now plans to increase its workforce there to 20 over the coming 12 months.

Senior principal planners and an experienced environmental director, as well as design engineers and a geologist are among the posts to be filled.

The firm, which employs 40 people across the UK, has experienced strong demand for its services in residential, industrial, energy, waste and educational projects.

Company founder and managing director Mike Caulfield said: “Our Midlands team has played a crucial role in the firm’s growth, and we now want to bolster the expertise based at our new office.

“We see Nottingham as an ideal location for our Midlands operation. It has excellent transport links across the area, and gives us a convenient base to serve our clients in the south of England.

“We doubled turnover to over £2m during the last financial year, largely thanks to diversification into new sectors.

“We’re picking up more and more work in education, renewables, infrastructure and commercial developments, including some really interesting, challenging projects, both in the UK and overseas.

“Now, we’re looking for senior planners with experience and contacts in this area, as well as an environmental director to oversee our team of environmental scientists.”

Current projects run from the Nottingham office include environmental support and technical advice for three local authorities, waste management advice for a leading aggregates company, and planning support for a residential development in Ripley.

Principal hydrogeologist Sarah Venning said: “Nottingham is a fantastic location for our team, given the thriving business community here, outstanding infrastructure and convenient access to our clients across the Midlands and beyond.”

“We’re looking forward to bringing in new members of staff to continue the growth and development of the Midlands team.”

Founded in 2009, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious 15-year growth plan that would see it employ 250 people by 2024. Its expertise in engineering, environmental and planning disciplines is supported by its use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to a Level 2 standard in many of its projects.
