Gospelware Win Gold Award for App Design Expertise

Digital product company Gospelware has been awarded Gold at the App Design awards for their design work on motorcycle safety app REALRIDER®.

Located in the centre of Newcastle, the company worked with client REALsafe® Technologies to redesign their current app, which is to be launched in 2016. Gospelware succeeded over multiple other entries to be awarded the Gold winning spot.

REALRIDER® provides an invaluable service to the biking community, offering them peace-of-mind through life-saving (REALsafe®) technology and connecting them through shared experiences and interests.

The REALsafe® feature detects when a motorcyclist has crashed and auto-alerts the Ambulance service, sending them a rider’s location, medical and contact details.

This idea was pioneered following information from Great North Air Ambulance that highlighted a problem between motorcycle crashes and rescue where the exact location of a patient can’t be established. The app bridges the gap between crash and recovery, alerting emergency services if a rider is in trouble.

Gospelware’s redesign has made it easier for users of the app to access the REALsafe® feature as well as their overhauling of the user experience and interface to provide a crisp and user-friendly design.

The UK App Design Awards celebrate both commissioning clients and design professionals in the creation of applications for mobile. In recognising user experience and interface design, winners are selected from a mix of community ratings and industry expert evaluation.

After being finalists in two categories in 2014 but missing out on an award, Gospelware were thrilled to learn of their success this year.

Paul Bingham, lead designer at Gospelware who is responsible for the UI and UX revamp said: “Winning this award is great for us as a company, particularly to be recognised for our design efforts.

“It’s been our focus to sell more design over the course of this year, so it’s nice to be acknowledged for this, and especially with the Gold prize.

“REALRIDER® was enjoyable on a personal level with me being a cyclist and our commercial director Michael a motorcyclist, we knew the benefits immediately of an app like this.

“We design with the user in mind, the more people who like using this app, the more lives that can potentially be saved, and that’s a special thing to be a part of.

“To be able to add value to any project through design is important, and winning an award for what we’re passionate about doing on a daily basis, is just icing on the cake”.

Andrew Richardson, Chief Commercial Officer at Realsafe Technologies said:

“Paul and the team at Gospleware were great to work with, offering a refreshingly new perspective on the app design process.

“They took my use case and set about creating a UX and UI wireframe that proved very popular with user testing. What particularly impressed me was their honest approach. Paul wasn’t afraid to challenge my thoughts on the app’s navigation - resulting in a much stronger product.

“I’m delighted that Gospleware have been recognised by this prestigious award. It’s testament to Paul’s translating a brief into good solid design.”
