DBL Logistics puts Sheffield Eagles in the driving seat

DBL Logistics has been announced as Sheffield Eagles’ new principal sponsor.

The company has agreed a 12-month deal, which includes an option to extend for a further year, to become the rugby league club’s main sponsor ahead of the new campaign.

DBL Logistics’ sponsorship of the Eagles, who finished third in the Kingstone Press Championship last season, will see the local firm’s logo appear on the front of the players’ home, away and training shirts.

The partnership was confirmed at the company’s Huntsman Depot on Tinsley Park Road, Sheffield, when head coach Mark Aston and players Steve Thorpe, Quentin Laulu-Togagae, and Cory Aston met with DBL Logistics’ managing director David Clarkson, sales director Earl Robinson and operations director Bert Clarkson.

David Clarkson said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be Sheffield Eagles’ new sponsor ahead of the new season.

“We are extremely proud to be associated with one of the most well-known rugby league clubs and we look forward to joining them on their journey as they push towards promotion to the Super League.”

DBL Logistics’ sponsorship portfolio currently includes back-of-shirt sponsorship of Sheffield United, rear-of-vest sponsorship of Sheffield Sharks, and principal sponsorship of Sheffield-based professional boxer Sam ‘The Sensation’ O’Maison.

Dave added: “We are proud of our Sheffield roots and we do all we can to have a postive impact on the local community.

“This latest sponsorship deal is evidence of the continued success we are enjoying as a business, and as a local firm it gives us great pleasure to be able to give a boost to sport in our city.”

Mark Aston, who holds the club record for the most matches played, points scored and goals scored from his playing career, which ended in 2004, said: “We are delighted to have DBL Logistics on board and it’s fantastic that they have stepped up to support us in what we are trying to achieve as a club.

“DBL Logistics represent a great Sheffield success story, and we hope that this is the beginning of a successful, long-term partnership.

“The deal represents a significant investment and is reflective of the positive direction that the club is going in. We now look ahead to the new season with great optimism.”

The Sheffield Eagles, which were established in 1984, will begin their new campaign in February 2016.

DBL Logistics, which initially started as a Yorkshire Distribution Service, was launched by husband and wife Bert and Linda Clarkson more than 30 years ago with son David joining in 1987 to complete the company initials.

DBL is a founding member depot of UPN (United Pallet Network), which has more than 75 depots throughout the UK and delivers into 26 countries across Europe. The leading haulage company warehouses and distributes more than 120,000 pallets of goods across South Yorkshire each year.
