Yorkshire Christmas catch-up: Angus Armitage, director of DS.Emotion

With Christmas fast approaching, and the businesspeople of Yorkshire preparing to hang up their stockings for the holiday, Bdaily is continuing its December interview series with Angus Armitage, director of DS.Emotion.

With offices in Leeds, London and Manchester, DS.Emotion is a brand, design and marketing agency specialising in development, regeneration and the built environment.

Your Business

What were the highlights for your business in 2015?

Winning a major re-brand and web site brief for a globally recognised brand – due to confidentiality we can’t reveal which one yet, but watch this space

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently this year?

I would have undertaken recruitment earlier in the year to have geared up for the increase in business we are experiencing. Getting the right people is not easy!

Is there anything we should watch out for your company doing next year?

The re-brand for the global brand to be revealed, further expansion and senior appointments

Have any other Yorkshire companies impressed you this year, if so - why?

Red’s True BBQ – a simply idea very well executed. A brand that I believe will continue to grow and grow

When business life gets on top of you, what do you do to destress?

Socialise and watch my children play sport

Have any social media accounts caught your eye this year, any favourite pages or people to follow?

To be honest there is so much unwanted noise and misuse of social media it’s often too time consuming to cut through the waste.

@Queen_UK puts a smile on my face most days.

We support the charity Emmaus and I always enjoy reading what they are achieving with and for homeless people, in particular getting them back in to work

The what ifs

If you could do any job in the world what would it be?

F1 driver or professional rugby player – a bit long in the tooth for both now sadly

If you could go back in time, which piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Have conviction in your ideas and the confidence to push them.

What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?

A good case of Claret, preferably St Emilion, and two very good friends and their families coming to stay to share it and enjoy New Year together. I’m quietly confident as I’ve bought the wine and it’s our turn to host the New Year celebrations this year.
