IFB2016 will bring world’s elite to Liverpool

Liverpool is set to welcome global leaders in politics, academia and industry to the inaugural Horasis Global Meeting, which is being held in the city as part of the International Festival for Business 2016.

The event, on June 13 and 14, will be the world’s foremost gathering of business leaders, ministers, Nobel Laureates and global influencers.

The delegate list includes nine former or current heads of state, 27 professors from the world’s leading universities and more than 100 CEOs and global business leaders, including Stuart Gulliver, Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings, United Kingdom; Bo Inge Andersson, Chief Executive Officer, AvtoVAZ, Russia; Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman, Hang Lung Properties, Hong Kong; and Martin Richenhagen, Chairman, AGCO Corporation, USA. Speakers include former South African president and Nobel Peace Laureate F.W. de Klerk, Nobel award-winning economist Edmund S. Phelps and the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova.

IFB2016 will be the biggest global business festival of the year, with more than 30,000 business delegates, from the UK and across the globe, gathering for the three week festival in June next year.

Max Steinberg, Chairman of the International Festival for Business 2016, said: “The International Festival for Business is designed to cultivate strong, mutually beneficial relationships within the international business community. We’re excited to welcome some of the world’s most visionary thinkers and most powerful political and business leaders to Liverpool against this dynamic backdrop of global collaboration and commerce.

“Forging international connections and creating a platform to enable strong trade links to flourish between developed and emerging markets is a key focus of IFB2016: an aim which aligns closely with the Horasis vision.

“We’re delighted to be co-hosting the inaugural Horasis Global Meeting and look forward to hosting this international community of eminent thought leaders and business people in our fantastic city.”

Dr Frank-Jurgen Richter, Horasis Chairman, said: “Horasis is glad to reinvigorate its partnership with Liverpool Vision and the International Festival for Business and to align its strategy with the evolving global context as well as the economic development priorities of the United Kingdom.

“The programme of the Horasis Global Meeting comprises more than 30 sessions that will help to generate ‘Visions for Tomorrow’, the overarching theme of the event. Participants will share insights on the current state of the world and identify solutions to build confidence enabling decisive progress towards a richer society.”

Horasis, which boasts some of the world’s most successful and respected entrepreneurs amongst its members, provides strategic foresight to public and private entities that envisage growing into global and sustainable organisations.

The organisation hosts annual meetings which advance solutions to the most critical challenges facing corporations and it works to encourage co-operation and connections between emerging and mature markets.

Activity during IFB2016 will be clustered around three sector themes: manufacturing, energy and environment and creative and digital. The festival is supported by the UK government, main partner HSBC, media partners The Times, The Sunday Times and Bloomberg as well as festival supporters: DLA Piper, DONG Energy, Heathrow, PwC, Siemens and Virgin Trains.

The Horasis Global Meeting is being co-hosted by Liverpool Vision and IFB2016. It is being held in partnership with Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Knowledge Partner, Liverpool John Moores University.

Businesses and individuals can register now for IFB2016’s Business Club. This provides delegates with access to the festival as well as access to exclusive benefits, including a state-of-the art digital matching service, which helps forge connections with potential customers, investors and partners and a range of free business support and advice services.
