Newcastle's Silverstone completes work on historic York building
Newcastle-based Silverstone Building Consultancy has completed a six-figure refurbishment of Merchant House, a historic building in York city centre.
Working on behalf of North East developers Hanro, the building surveyors and project managers say this is one of a series of instructions the company has recently completed outside of the North East region.
Ben Hunter, director at Silverstone, revealed: “We have recently been instructed on projects in North & South Yorkshire, Birmingham, Bristol and Stafford. This latest project in York demonstrates our ability to successfully deliver the same high level of service outside of the North East.”
“Having recently taken on two new members of staff we are in a good position to extend our offering and our aim is to become a long-term advisor to clients who can enlist our services on nationwide property portfolios.
“This project shows the positive outcome that can be quickly achieved when landlords have the confidence to take funds secured in a dilapidations settlement and reinvest it in their building, to bring the offering up to the standard the market demands.
“We have undertaken similar successful projects on listed office buildings in Newcastle city centre and we are keen to apply our skills and knowledge on a larger-scale, across other markets.”
Erin Forest, asset manager at Hanro added: “Following the successful dilapidations settlement we had no hesitation in instructing Silverstone to carry out the refurbishment works. The building has been swiftly brought back to a lettable condition, enabling us to market it to potential occupiers. We are delighted the first floor has been let in such a short time frame.”
