Ringtons makes donation to Newcastle hospitals

Newcastle-based tea and coffee company Ringtons will bring a smile to the faces of patients in two of the city’s hospital this festive season thanks to a generous charitable donation.

Over 200 gifts have been donated by the local company for children and adults who will be spending Christmas day in the wards of the Freeman Hospital. In addition, the team at Ringtons’ Barrington sales office donated their own £170 lottery syndicate winnings towards 50 more gifts to be donated to the Great North Children’s Hospital at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) hospital.

Representatives from Ringtons made the donation ahead of the big day on the 25th which included festive reindeer, snowmen and jars full of sweets, alongside some goodies for staff.

Ringtons Beverages, the business-to-business division of Ringtons is sole supplier of tea at the Freeman Hospital and the hospital’s main shop also contains a popular freestanding take-away hot drinks tower.

Speaking of the donation, Mike Iredale, Purchasing Manager for Ringtons said: “We’ve been supplying the Freeman Hospital for a few months now and know how hard the teams there work to provide first class care, so when we were thinking about where to gift the items the Freeman and its sister, the RVI hospital were the obvious choice. As a business we’re honoured to be in a position to be able to donate these gifts to patients and staff who will be residing at the hospitals over the festive period and hopefully put a little smile on their face at what is a difficult time of year to be there.”

Geoff Moyle, Catering Services Manager from the Freeman Hospital added: “Ringtons is a much-loved local company and we are pleased to not only work with the catering division to serve patients a quality tea which is made just a few miles up the road, but we are also delighted to be the recipient of the donation of gifts for our patients and staff who are with us over Christmas. We’re sure it will brighten up the day for patients and family alike at our hospital and at the RVI.”
