Gas Training has Silver Lining
Austin Williamson had a very successful building business until the recession hit. During a concentrated effort to maintain his business he became increasingly aware the gas and plumbing contractors he used seemed constantly busy.
“I was paying gas engineers and plumbers wages and realised they were always busy and never short of work, even during recession. It was a turning point for me; I said to myself ‘I want to do that’, so it was back to training for me.”
Austin enrolled on the Brookhouse Training Entrant Multi-Skilled Gas Engineer Course for new entrants, and benefited from a guaranteed six week Work Placement with the Mears Group following his training. He completed a 30 day on-site programme to build a portfolio of evidence - a mandatory requirement to become a qualified Gas Engineer.
“When you’ve made the investment in training like I did, there’s obviously a lot of pressure to pass – you can’t fail, it isn’t an option! However the support, the tutoring, and the overall experience at Brookhouse Training is geared towards ensuring your investment pays dividends. It’s been a great experience and I’m very proud to say I have a job to walk into to.”
Since qualifying Austin has secured a full-time position working for the Yorkshire based Artisan Fireplaces Ltd, as part of their team of fire and stove installers.
