Everton takeover: Martinez backs ‘fantastic’ club chairman Bill Kenwright

Everton FC’s manager, Roberto Martinez, has voiced his support for chairman Bill Kenwright as the club stands on the brink of a multi-million pound takeover.

Martinez said he believes Kenwright has the ability to safeguard EFC’s future if he sells the club.

According to the Daily Mail, while Martinez has insisted that Kenwright has Everton’s best interests at heart, he was unwilling to discuss the specifics of the takeover.

He said: “It’s not something for me to go into detail about. We all know what a fantastic chairman we have. Our board will always look for the best in the interests of our club.

“Going forward, we have an exciting team, and the youth and talent we have in our dressing room, reflects the spirit in the boardroom.”

Martinez continued: “The chairman will always look for the best for Everton. Whatever happens in the future is going to be good. We’re in a great position, and the football club is in the best possible hands ever.”

US entrepreneurs Charles Noell and John J Moores are reportedly in talks to acquire Everton for £200m. The two have previously expressed interest in buying Swansea City AFC, but have now set their sights on Merseyside.
