Newcastle City Hall and Baths developer wins award

FUSION Lifestyle, the company named as the preferred supplier to redevelop the Newcastle City Hall, Pool and Turkish Baths complex has won a major award for its staff training.

The organisation, which employs 3,500 staff, won Large Employer of the Year at the Active Training Awards, which celebrate exceptional performance within the fitness industry and a commitment to vocational training and development.

Fusion anticipates that it will bring 40 jobs to Newcastle ahead of it reopening the Grade II listed leisure facility.

Tim Mills, Business Development Director for Fusion Lifestyle, said: “We are so proud of what we have achieved. Fusion celebrated its 15th birthday this month and the success of the charity continues to be down to the fantastic people we employ and their drive and determination to contribute to the business.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to be moving into Newcastle and if all goes to plan, we expect to recruit a number of new staff members to work at the Newcastle Pool and Turkish Baths complex.

“We want to continue to give our staff every opportunity to realise their potential with Fusion. We are looking forward to the evolution of the Fusion Academy over time as Fusion’s learning and development offer continues to richen.”

Newcastle-based staff would be able to benefit from the Fusion Academy; a company-wide framework which boosts staff’s skills through a range of courses and training packages.

The Academy provides training in job-related core skills and expertise and gives a clear career pathway with a range of apprenticeships and leadership management development programmes.

To date Fusion has helped over 480 people complete their apprenticeships and delivered a staggering 26,000 individual course completions in 2015.

Fusion was announced as Newcastle City Council’s preferred supplier to take over the development and management of the site in September, due to its successful delivery of several similar redevelopment projects across the South of England.
