Students create recruitment video for Ashfield Heathcare Communications

Healthcare communications agency, Ashfield Healthcare Communications, has enlisted the help of local students from Macclesfield College to create a recruitment video that will aid the firm in attracting the best talent from across the medical communications sector as well as educating those from outside of the industry.

Ashfield Healthcare Communications, one of the largest employers in Macclesfield, was approached by students from Macclesfield College during the summer term as part of their digital communications project.

“The students had a real interest in science and brought a fresh perspective and creative ideas to our recruitment drive campaign,” said Tracey Ellis, HR Recruiter at Ashfield Healthcare Communications.

The three students and their tutor from Macclesfield College, worked with the team at Ashfield Healthcare Communications to gain a greater understanding of its business including the types of roles that they recruit for, before coming back and presenting their ideas to the team.

“Talent is the key to our business. Attracting new innovative, bright, passionate people to the healthcare communications industry has never been more important”, said Tracey. “There’s a huge skills shortage in the industry and we wanted to find a way to reach out and engage with this audience. The students came up with the concept of creating a video that would enable us to showcase our company and our career opportunities, as well as educating people from outside of our sector about the work that we do.”

Macclesfield media student, Tom Willis, said that collaborating with Ashfield Healthcare Communications had been ‘invaluable’ to him. “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ashfield as part of my college course. The opportunity of being able to work with a company as prestigious as Ashfield Healthcare Communications will look fantastic on my CV. I feel that the knowledge I have gained is invaluable, to my education and future career; I now feel I have a much better understanding of the global, healthcare communications industry.”

Commenting on the final edit of the video Tracey Ellis said, “The final edited video is fantastic. It truly captures what it’s like to work here at Ashfield Healthcare Communications and the global opportunities that are open to our employees. We’ll be using the video as a recruitment tool on our careers page and promoting it through all of our social media channels.”

“The video is a powerful tool that we will also be showing at future career fairs, helping to educate people about the opportunities that exist within the healthcare communications sector. It will provide a platform that will allow us to reach and engage with local students to raise our profile as a progressive employer within the area, and to help spread the word about our career opportunities to younger audiences, the next generation of pharma and healthcare communications professionals.”

Ashfield Healthcare Communications has a broad range of expertise including strategic consulting and multichannel communications, creative branding, medical education, publication support, training and scientific PR.
