£6m Residential Project ‘A Building Block’ For City Contractor

A Nottingham based multi award winning construction firm is celebrating a £6m+ contract win to facilitate the transformation of one of Derby’s biggest office blocks into 156 new apartments.

St Peter’s House, a large eight-story office block building on Gower Street, is set to be transformed by contractor DL Rhodes & Son, with the development expected to take around eighteen months to complete.

Plans for the project aim to create a complex of one and two-bed apartments, with work set to begin in January 2016.

The development aims to introduce nice specification style apartments, similar to the 73 apartments that DL Rhodes & Son recently developed in Draycott, when the contractors brought new life to Victoria Mill.

Nigel Rhodes, managing director at DL Rhodes & Son, said: “We are delighted to be offered this opportunity to transform St Peter’s House in Derby. This £6m development will revive the building, and will bring more residential property to the city centre. We are excited to be a part of this regeneration project.”

The apartments are hoped to benefit the local community in the near future, by bringing in footfall and increasing business in the local economy.

DL Rhodes & Son tendered for the project with ALB Investments, and was selected for the job above other competitors.

The building contractor is recognised for its high levels of service, and was recently awarded with the prestigious award of Biffa’s 2015 Supplier of the Year.

Nigel added: “This is a massive achievement for DL Rhodes & Son, for us to be recognised by such a prestigious firm like Biffa and to be selected as its number one supplier in 2015, really is testament to the high standards and fantastic levels of commitment from our team.

“We will expect to see our men on site in Derby from January, and we hope that this will be another award winning development.”
