99p Stores, Gillingham to be Poundland
Following the takeover from Poundland, 99p Stores in Gillingham has been officially confirmed as a Poundland store.
The 99p Stores were sold to Poundland in late 2015. This then lead to much questioning in regards to what would be the future of the 99p Stores brand as well as the branches. Across the country, the 99p Stores branches have either been closed or converted into Poundland stores. This has meant that there has only been one Poundland store in the town rather than both a Poundland and 99p Stores.
The Gillingham branch is the first 99p Store in Medway to either have been converted or closed. This has then lead to much speculation into what will happen to the 99p Stores branch in Chatham. Will the 99p Stores branch be closed within the Pentagon Shopping Center or alternatively, will this store be converted and the branch in the High Street closed?
The signage of the Gillingham Poundland has replaced the 99p Store signage and work has commenced quickly which has lead to the speculation of the brand new Poundland opening its doors withint the coming month.
