Sunderland’s ScS to bring in Muir as new CFO
Furniture retailer ScS has announced the future appointment of Chris Muir as the Sunderland firm’s new Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Board Director, from Monday 4 April 2016.
The appointment follows the decision by Ron Turnbull, Chief Financial Officer, as announced to the market on 12 August 2015, to step down from the board and resign from the company.
Ron will remain in his role for as much of the current financial year as is necessary to ensure a smooth handover to Chris Muir.
Chris was appointed Group Finance Director of Northgate plc in May 2011. Northgate is Europe’s leading specialist in light commercial vehicle hire and a member of the FTSE 250.
The 40 year old joined Northgate in 2003 as a Group Accountant and has since held a number of senior UK and group roles, including UK Finance Director and acting group CEO in the summer of 2014.
Alan Smith, Chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Chris to ScS. He brings substantial experience to the Board and will be an extremely valuable addition as we look to further grow and develop our business.
“I would also like to thank Ron for his huge contribution to the business and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Chris Muir, said: “I am extremely pleased to be joining ScS and look forward to working with David Knight and the rest of the team. The Company is at an exciting time in its development, with a well thought out strategy for growth and a promising future ahead. “
