Cassidy + Ashton revamps Church of England’s Blackburn base
Architectural firm Cassidy + Ashton has completed a 12-week office refurbishment project for Blackburn’s Diocesan office.
The work to upgrade the 9,000 sq ft, two-storey property was carried out by Preston-based building firm Edward Dewhurst Ltd and included new glazed partitions, enhanced meeting rooms, break areas and a staff kitchen. Bolton-based design company Whitespace Consultants, meanwhile, was called on to carry out a space planning exercise.
Cassidy + Ashton chairman Alistair Baines said: “There’s been a sharp rise in the take-up of out-of-town locations not just with North West-based Diocese but across the commercial property market as a whole due to a shortage of space.
“Our priority was to create a modern office environment that meets the changing nature of Blackburn Diocese and its staff and ensures the longevity of the building.”
Commenting on the newly refurbished offices, the Bishop of Blackburn, Rt Rev. Julian Henderson, said that having “a fit-for-purpose base” for staff members was important for supporting Lancashire’s parishes and schools.
He continued: “I am extremely grateful to all those who have worked so hard in bringing the work on this building to fruition.”
