Batemans Brewery acquire Rotherham pub and dining venue
The Fairways, a Rotherham-based pub and dining venue, has been acquired by Lincolnshire brewer George Bateman & Son Ltd.
Leisure property specialists Fleurets sold the venue for an as sold for an undisclosed sum off an asking price of £1.1m.
Fleurets acted for the owners Yorkstone Property Limited, who had owned and operated the Fairways, a former Spirit managed house, since 2008.
Positioned alongside the A631, Bawtry Road, just to the north of the Rotherham suburb of Brinsworth and around 2 ½ miles south of Rotherham town centre; the Fairways also benefits from the proximity of the M1 via the nearby junctions 34 and 33 allowing for efficient access to Meadowhall, the Motorpoint Arena and Magna Centre.
Linda Green, retail director at Batemans Brewery commented: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of the Fairways. The purchase marks a great step forward in terms of our strategic review and we look forward to introducing our beers to this part of South Yorkshire. I would like to thank Nick and the team at Fleurets for their assistance from start to finish which was greatly appreciated.”
Nick Thomas from Fleurets’ Leeds office added: “The Fairways is a good example of a wet-led community pub/ restaurant with the added benefit of 7 letting bedrooms, which Batemans were able to readily appreciate. Management operated on a simple wet:dry format with the added benefit of letting income, the Fairways will readily transfer to Batemans intended style of operation and further cements their expanding presence in this part of Yorkshire.
“The Fairways was sold after a short period of confidential marketing and is further confirmation of an improving market for freehouses in the region backed by an increasing buyer appetite.”
