Waterstones to close two London stores
Book retailer Waterstones has confirmed plans to close two of its branches in the capital.
Speaking to The Bookseller, the company said it will close its Oxford Street West and Wimbledon branches due to the leases on both properties ending.
A spokesperson for Waterstones commented: “Oxford Street West bookshop will be closing on Saturday 16th January. There are plenty of other Waterstones bookshops nearby, including our beautiful new shop on Tottenham Court Road.
“The last day of trading in Wimbledon is the 17th January.”
Speaking further, the spokesperson said the company wants to retain a presence in Wimbledon and is currently seeking a new site in the area.
The news follows the close of Waterstones’ branch in The Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading, on Sunday (January 10th).
