Online luxury fashion retailer makes Shard move
London-based luxury online fashion retailer Matchesfashion.com is to make the Shard its new home as it angles for international expansion.
The new offices are twice the size of the company’s current 35,000 sq ft base in Clapham, with the retailer’s 300 employees making the move at the end of June.
The company, which generates annual sales of over £130m, was founded by husband and wife duo Tom and Ruth Chapman in 1987 and has grown from a single shop in Wimbledon to encompass four stores and an online business.
Having only launched its online offering in 2006, the retailer now sees 70% of sales coming from international consumers.
Co-executive Chairman, Tom Chapman, commented: “Ruth and I have never felt more inspired about the opportunities ahead.”
It is the first new occupant in 2016 for Western Europe’s tallest building, following 12 new business tenants last year.
