Used car dealership The Car People is making preparations for a New Years sales rush after investing in its telecoms technology.
The £170m turnover business has upgraded the telephone system at its Wakefield head office and installed a software update at its Sheffield base, home to the dealership’s customer contact centre.
The investment enhances The Car People’s internal communications across the two sites and will result in reduced call charges to landlines and from mobile phones.
The dealership is also implementing a new secure payments solution which complies with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.
The improvement works and implementation of the PCI compliant solution are being delivered by Wakefield-based business communications specialist NGC Networks.
Jonathan Allbones, The Car People director, said: “The car market picks up considerably after Christmas and January, February and March will be our busiest period this year. We needed to ensure our telecoms technology and infrastructure were up to date and capable of supporting our service to customers during this exceptionally busy time.
“The upgrade at Wakefield gives us more flexibility and will support the development of a second location adjacent to the current site. The PCI solution is vital and our customers can be reassured their deposits and payments for vehicles are being taken securely.”
Last year, The Car People invested in its contact centre operation, implementing a Liquid Voice call recording solution to enhance its customer service standards. Liquid Voice is a Leeds-based software house specialising in contact centre applications.
Dean Harrop, NGC Networks director, added: “Our work for The Car People enables the delivery of an efficient service to customers across its sites, particularly when call volumes are high. The solutions we have implemented also support the future development and growth of The Car People business.”
