NewcastleGateshead Initiative partners with Crowne Plaza Newcastle

In a shared desire of attracting more leisure and business to the region, destination management and marketing agency NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI) has partnered with one of Newcastle’s newest luxury hotels.

Andrew Fox, the General manager at Crowne Plaza Newcastle, has been invited to take up a place on NGI’s board, where he will assist in making decisions to boost the region’s profile.

Opening in Newcastle’s Stephenson Quarter last September, a £200m strategic site being developed by Clouston Group, in September 2015, Crowne Plaza has created 150 jobs and more than £1m of confirmed business so far.

Commenting on the partnership, Andrew said: “NewcastleGateshead Initiative is a fantastic organisation which undertakes a vital role in promoting our destination to national and international audiences.

“They have, and continue to be, a huge support to our team. It’s a proactive partnership and we’ve been working together long before the hotel opened to spot opportunities for business development, promoting the hotel and introducing us to the region’s business network.

“I’m delighted to have a place on the board, which will allow us to be at the heart of shaping the future of tourism in NewcastleGateshead and the North East region.”

Sarah Stewart, chief executive at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Andrew Fox to our board and Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter, as part of Clouston Group, as a gold partner of NewcastleGateshead Initiative.

“Our partnership model includes over 170 private-sector organisations from across the North East and from a range of industry sectors including tourism, arts & culture, creative & digital, financial services and professional services, to name just a few.

“Our strength is in the diversity of support we attract, helping us to promote NewcastleGateshead and the wider North East region as a place, not just to visit but live, learn, work and invest.”
