The Dance Zone Launch The Arts Award
Local charity Huddersfield Community Trust is delighted to announce the launch of the Arts Award within their dance department, The Dance Zone.
This exciting programme is part of an innovative partnership between Rugby League Cares and 15 Rugby League Foundations across the North West and Yorkshire.
This newly formed project will see the Dance Zone provide a series of fantastic arts, dance and heritage projects with young people under the age of 25. The projects are a further step in the great work that the charity does within their local community.
The programmes inspire young people to grow their arts and leadership talents, whilst supporting children and young people in engaging and attaining their skills, confidence and creativity. Each programme embeds the Arts Award, which is viewed as a nationally recognised qualification. The projects that are run allow young people to explore a wide variety of art forms via rugby league.
Bernie Nunn Dance and Fitness Manager at The Zone commented, “To be able to offer the Arts Award to both schools and the local public is fantastic. The Dance Zone are really lucky to be able to have dedicated members of staff to work with children in Kirklees to help build their Arts knowledge, as well as being able to perform at fantastic events, whilst earning a nationally recognised qualification.”
Alongside this invaluable qualification, The Dance Zone are also offering schools the opportunity to take part in The Big Dance Project, a 6 week creative process with the opportunity to perform as a group of 300 at the Huddersfield Giants V Leeds Rhinos fixture on Friday 29th April, which is also televised on Sky Sports HD.
As part of this 6-week course the highly skilled team provide students with skilled and enthusiastic instruction whilst allowing teachers the opportunity to upskill. As a passionate and knowledgeable department they aim to work alongside staff to deliver this extensive programme. Due to the popularity of the programme, there is a limit of up to 30 children from each school and a deadline of Friday 12th February to reserve spaces.
