Manchester’s BID City Hosts hit 100k visitor milestone
The Heart of Manchester Business Improvement District’s City Hosts, a team of guides based in the main shopping districts, have helped more than 100k people since April last year.
The seven-strong team, which operates across Exchange Square, New Cathedral Street and Market Street, reported a year-on-year increase of 10% in the number of visitors and workers asking questions.
Statistics collected by the BID since April 2015 reveal that the majority (70%) of the queries were from UK residents visiting Manchester, while 25% were from international visitors and 5% from locals.
BID manager Phil Schulze said: “We’re extremely proud of the City Host team for their continued commitment to assisting visitors in Manchester to ensure their experience is a pleasurable one, whether it’s for business or leisure.
“We also made a considered effort to ensure the City Hosts were connected with the market operators, Metrolink staff and NCP managers in order for them to work cohesively to manage traffic flow and public transport queries, which we believe served as a big asset throughout the festive period.”
The most popular question from visitors in the last month concerned the best way to navigate the city’s Christmas markets, while queries about the location of the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford came in second.
