Global payments executives to explore transport payment innovation
The world renowned Transport Ticketing & Passenger Information Global event will welcome leading names in international payments technology at its eighth annual transport summit. Designed to connect senior payments professionals with transit innovators, the three day event will explore the latest trends in smart ticketing and transit shaping global passenger travel.
Nick Mackie, Head of Contactless, Product Management at Visa Europe, will contribute to a panel discussion on the role payments will play in increasing public transport adoption. Delivering a speaker session titled ‘PayPal welcomes you aboard the digital express’ David Smallwood, Head of Sales at PayPal UK & Ireland, will detail how global financial technology providers are iterating for the next generation of transport payments platforms.
Examining new developments as mass adoption of near frequency contactless ticketing becomes standardised, Briony Krikorian-Slade, Principal Policy Advisor at The UK Cards Association, will share insight as part of a panel debate titled ‘Where do we go beyond contactless ticketing?’ John Elliott, Head of Transit Practice at Consult Hyperion, will explore ‘smart mobile ticketing’.
Taking place on 28 January, the day after Transport Ticketing & Passenger Information Global is The EMV Transport Forum. The Forum is the UK’s first niche industry gathering which cuts through the noise around bank-card ticketing and discusses the ‘hands-dirty’ aspects of implementation and market implementation of EMV transport ticketing.
The prestigious Transport Ticketing & Passenger Information Global Awards, in partnership with PayPal, will honour those organisations and individuals who have worked tirelessly to establish and deploy successful smart ticketing programmes across Europe. Taking place at the iconic London Transport Museum on 26 January, the event will celebrate the evolution of public transport and how it continues to shape modern society. Categories include: Best Smart Card Ticketing Service, Most Successful Mobile Ticketing Programme, Ticketing Technology of the Year, Best Customer Serving Operator, Industry Contributor and Most Innovative Real-time Passenger Information Initiative.
The conference will also feature representatives from organisations such as The Department of Transport, ATOC, Ridango, Connexxion, Bytemark Inc, Global Travel Ventures and Go Ahead Group, while partners and sponsors include Visa, Fujitsu, Vix Technology, Parkeon, Cubic, Snapper, EOS Uptrade, Hacon, Scheidt & Bachmann, Thales.
A wide ranging exhibition, running alongside the conference, will offer the opportunity for delegates to interact with the latest technologies first-hand and meet with potential and existing suppliers.
