Plans submitted for 120,000 sq ft Aquila 120 unit in Huyton

Commercial property development firm db symmetry has revealed a plan to transform a former manufacturing facility at Huyton Business Park into modern industrial space.

db symmetry, which has an office in Manchester, submitted a planning application to Knowsley Borough Council to turn the 175,000 sq ft site into a 120,000 sq ft industrial unit.

The proposed work on the 9.4-acre site, to be known as Aquila 120, includes the demolition of a 25,000 sq ft office building and improvements to loading and yard areas. Some mezzanine offices within the warehouse will also be removed.

db symmetry’s associate development director, Simon Dixon, said: “With the severe shortage of top specification second hand units of 100,000 sq ft plus, we are expecting a strong level of demand for what will be a unique proposition.

“With its strategic location adjacent to the major motorway networks, Aquila 120 is likely to appeal to owner occupiers, warehousing and distribution occupiers and, with the added USP of 4MW of power, we anticipate interest from manufacturers.”

Simon continued: “db symmetry’s investment into this unit will bring a high quality product to market at a time when there is a serious lack of supply of good quality industrial and warehousing stock and no discernable competition for this type of space.”

Darren Hill from real estate services firm CBRE and Andrew Lynn from investment management company JLL will market the unit, which will be available for purchase or lease.

Work on site will begin this April, with completion due in September 2016.
