PureMalt Selects Epicor to Provide Better Data Visibility

PureMalt develops a range of refined malt extracts that are used in a number of food and beverage products such as beer, sauces and conserves and baked goods. The company has evolved over the past 40 years, transforming their business from flour milling and malting into specialised production of refined malt extracts that are now exported to over 60 countries worldwide.

Due to its business growth, PureMalt needed an ERP solution which could manage the ope rational processes in one streamlined system. Before they implemented Tropos, the company used a selection of primitive software applications, including Access database platforms and Excel spreadsheets, as well as a manual paper system—something that had remained unchanged since the mid-1990s.

Ross Turner business systems manager at PureMalt commented, “We had grown to a size that we saw as a critical mass for future growth, but we didn’t have a major supporting system in place for the business. We needed an ERP system that could provide us with accurate real-time business data because we wanted to have better visibility of the business performance as well as streamline and improve the different processes.”

PureMalt consulted with its staff to understand exactly what was required from the new software based on what areas of the business that needed to be improved. They chose Tropos because it aligned with PureMalt’s business strategy.

“What set Tropos apart was the fact that it is a software platform that is clearly born out of a production and manufacturing focus, whereas some of its competitors’ products seem to have grown out of a finance-focused package. The manufacturing focus is key to supporting the growth of our business and how we compete with our counterparts,” added Turner.

Tropos has been implemented to transform a number of different business processes including sales order entry and processing. For example, when a new order is placed, the details will be available across all departments from the shop floor to the managing director’s office. The software will also be used for stock management, production and manufacturing, purchasing and quality control to ensure that operational processes are more streamlined. As a result business information will be more readily available to users who can make more informed decisions to support future growth plans.
